Sweet as a Southern Peach First Birthday

Event planner Hillary Yeager of Brocade Designs admits to dreaming about her daughter Emmaline’s first birthday since the day Emmaline was born. After deciding on the party’s theme, “Sweet as a Southern Peach,” Hillary’s goal became to throw a party that was enjoyable for both the children and the adults. She used light pastels, delicate floral arrangements, and a variety of desserts and beverages to create an elegant atmosphere of subtle sophistication that still its retained a fun, youthful feeling.

I have always had a passion for planning parties from a young age and I’m an event designer by profession, so I wanted for each detail for the party to be as perfect as possible. I love creating an atmosphere that is detail-rich and entertaining for guests.

The inspiration for my daughter’s first birthday party came from her love of peaches. Once peach season hit, she couldn’t get enough. I knew instantly that I wanted to embrace her love for the fruit and use it as inspiration for her birthday party.I wanted to embrace a sweet, southern summertime feeling and make a party fit for little ones as well as their parents, so loaded up on details that satisfied the young and old. I created a Pinterest board to help keep track of ideas and concepts, and started to work on projects that would make her birthday party special. The party colors are mint, peach, ivory, butter and pale pink.
