Loren from the Test Kitchen share’s some of what she is most looking for to Memorial Day 2014. The brains behind our All-American Cookout story, you can find more of her delicious summer entertaining recipes in the May/June issue.
Every year, Memorial Day kicks off outdoor entertaining for my family. It’s the unofficial beginning of barbecue season, so we celebrate this holiday by firing up the grill and making a delicious spread. From hamburgers to ribs to chicken, a good ole-fashioned cookout is one of my favorite ways to gather friends and family.
There are many sides to accompany the barbecue, and they vary, depending on your region. Down South, we love potato salad, macaroni and cheese, and coleslaw. And you can’t forget a delicious dessert as the finale. Whether you pick a classic all-American apple pie served à la mode or a chilled dessert (like Strawberry Frozen Yogurt Pie), the sweet ending is everyone’s favorite part of the meal.
So what are you waiting for? Plan a simple yet delicious menu for Memorial Day 2014, and enjoy the warm weather with those you love!
