From a girls’ weekend to a family reunion and everything in between, the beautiful resort at Callaway Gardens is the perfect place for your celebration.

As the weather warms and spring begins to unfold, there is no better way to enjoy the season than surrounded by nature’s glory. Tucked away in the southernmost foothills of the Appalachian Mountains is a property that celebrates spring unlike any other: Callaway Gardens. Cason and Virginia Callaway founded this Georgia treasure in 1952 to create a space where man and nature could peacefully coincide. At its beginnings, the property offered gorgeous flowers, a golf course, a lake, and scenic trails. Today, Callaway Gardens’  6,500 acres affords a variety of activities and is a hot spot for weddings, group getaways, spa weekends, and family trips.

Though beautiful year round, Callaway Gardens comes to life in the spring as the many flowers blossom throughout the gardens. A feature attraction for visitors of all ages is the renowned Day Butterfly Center, which boasts one of North America’s largest tropical-butterfly conservatories—more than 50 different species live among beautiful plants. For those who want to create a butterfly mecca of their own, a “Gardening for Butterflies” class is offered every Thursday that teaches how to attract butterflies to home gardens.

A broad range of recreational activities is also available at the property. Two 18-hole courses, along with a practice facility and an on-site restaurant, make Callaway a perfect spot for a golf weekend. If you’re looking for fun for the whole family, you can choose from tennis courts, bike trails, water sports, and a treetop adventure that features a ropes course and a zip line. For a more relaxed vacation, the spa and nature trails are just the thing, as is Robin Lake Beach, the world’s largest man-made white-sand beach, that stretches a mile around Robin Lake.
